What you will learn
Practice this visual check: Flatten the opening into a horizontal oval. Stop the rim where a marshmallow overlaps it, and curve the straw bands around the tube.
Shapes and proportions
Start with a wide mug and a horizontal oval opening. Join the oval ends to the mug sides so the drink sits inside a container. Attach the handle on the right. Place short diagonal eyes and an open curved smile on the mug. Float marshmallows in the opening, stack the cream in narrowing curves, then add sprinkles and a striped straw. Raised eye marks and an open smile turn the warm drink into a cheerful character.
A common mistake
A circular opening or marshmallows drawn straight through the rim makes the toppings look pasted in front of the mug.
How to fix it
Flatten the opening into a horizontal oval. Stop the rim where a marshmallow overlaps it, and curve the straw bands around the tube.
Attach the handle on the right.

Choose a consistent crayon palette
Use pale blue for mug and handle, brown for chocolate, cream for whipped cream and marshmallows, pink for cheeks and tongue, and alternating red and cream on the straw. Apply light pressure so the contour stays readable.
