What you will learn

Practice this visual check: First add vertical thickness to the section, and then use two sets of diagonal lines to cross to represent the grid.

Shapes and proportions

Two undulating elliptical arcs form the edge of the pie crust. Use an arc to connect the thickness of the side, and cut a triangular gap on the right side; place the separated small triangular pie on the lower right, and finally arrange the dough strips crosswise.

A common mistake

The lattice strips of the pie noodles do not follow the ellipse, and the slices tend to look like flat triangles.

How to fix it

First add vertical thickness to the section, and then use two sets of diagonal lines to cross to represent the grid.

These three images are key-stage previews: the starting shape, the completed outline, and a new crayon color study. Follow the complete drawing sequence in LittlePaper. On paper, leave room around the first shape for the parts added later.

A few things to start with

The pie crust is golden, the apple filling is warm brown, the plate is light blue, and the cream is off-white. Apply the color first with light pressure, leaving the black outline, and then compare pairs of parts using the same color.
