What you will learn

Practice this visual check: Find the midpoint between the eyes before extending the trunk. Compare the outer edges of both ears with the width of the head.

Shapes and proportions

Place two eyes first, then draw a rounded head around them. Extend the trunk down the center. Add broad ears of similar size on both sides, place the front legs in the middle, and add round rear feet on either side.

A common mistake

Unequal ears and a trunk that leans away from the center make the face look unbalanced.

How to fix it

Find the midpoint between the eyes before extending the trunk. Compare the outer edges of both ears with the width of the head.

Extend the trunk down the center.
