What you will learn
Practice this visual check: Let the hat hide one ear and bend the brim along the head curve. Check that the two front paws meet the same baseline, with the rear paws slightly higher.
Shapes and proportions
Draw a tapered round head with one pointed ear. Curve the Santa hat brim across the opposite side and bend its tip down to a pompom. Place the eyes beneath the brim and keep the nose centered above the tongue. Extend two front legs, enclose the seated body, tuck the rear paws beside the front feet, and curl the tail to the left.
A common mistake
Drawing both ears fully through the hat breaks the overlap; a straight brim looks pasted onto the head.
How to fix it
Let the hat hide one ear and bend the brim along the head curve. Check that the two front paws meet the same baseline, with the rear paws slightly higher.

Choose colors for each part
Use blue-gray for the puppy and tail, berry red for the hat, pale cream for the brim, pompom and rear feet, charcoal for the nose, pink for the tongue and cream for the eye highlights. Apply color lightly, keep the outline visible, and use the same color for matching parts.
