What you will learn

Practice this visual check: Keep the outline of the big head first, and then draw the smaller body; use the center axis of the mouth and nose to check the distance between the eyes.

Shapes and proportions

For unclosed fluffy head, locate the big head first. There are two triangular ears on the top of the head, a small chest and four legs are connected to the bottom of the head, and a raised tail is connected to the back. Finally, big eyes and a mouth and nose are placed inside the big head.

A common mistake

If the body is drawn as big as the head, or if the eyes are too close together, the chibi proportion will be lost.

How to fix it

Keep the outline of the big head first, and then draw the smaller body; use the center axis of the mouth and nose to check the distance between the eyes.

These three images are key-stage previews: the starting shape, the completed outline, and a new crayon color study. Follow the complete drawing sequence in LittlePaper. On paper, leave room around the first shape for the parts added later.
